Cattle Auction House

Not every visitor route offers the chance to see a real cattle auction—Mazzalve does.

The first cattle auction house in the Baltic States was opened in Mazzalve Parish to create a more transparent market where farmers could sell animals to competing buyers at auction.

Auctions are held for young beef cattle. The process involves far more than bidding in an auction hall: it includes accepting, weighing and sorting animals, veterinary requirements and logistics. According to Aizkraukle Municipality, more than 2,000 Latvian-bred young cattle can be offered at the house’s auctions each month.
