Mazzalves Groups at the Opening of the Nereta Association Amateur Arts Season

On the evening of 9 October, amateur arts groups from the Nereta Association gathered at the Nereta Cultural Centre to open the new season in an engaging “flight” around the world. Each group had prepared a presentation about a country visited during the shared journey. Georgian songs were performed by Nereta’s “Kadence”; the folk dance group “Sēļi” introduced the audience to Ireland; together with Pilskalne’s “Kamenes” the audience discovered Japan through dance; and Nereta’s singers took everyone to America. Mazzalves groups also presented their prepared assignments. The amateur theatre “Tradare” (leader Silvija Lisovska) introduced Brazil; the senior dance group “Sēlieši” (leader Gunita Krievāne) danced an Austrian waltz; the middle-generation dance group “Savenieki” (leader Gunita Krievāne) invited everyone to a Greek dance; while the vocal ensemble “Marica” (leader Marika Cielava) travelled to Italy.

It was a wonderful journey that gave a real boost to the amateur arts groups of the Nereta Association. The evening party brought everyone together in cheerful dances.
