Training Evacuation with the State Fire and Rescue Service
On 24 September, the third lesson was unexpectedly interrupted by three long bell signals, meaning an alarm and the need to evacuate. Calmly and in an organised way, led by their teachers, classes left the learning spaces and gathered in the schoolyard to review the training evacuation.
The school community was addressed by Guntars Laukazīle, commander of the Aizkraukle unit of the State Fire and Rescue Service. He explained the most significant mistakes made during evacuation and described how to act in the event of a fire or smoke, when the main exit cannot be used, or when someone has not evacuated together with the rest of their class. He also gave other valuable guidance.
The training evacuation gave pupils a better understanding of how to act in threatening situations.
