Autumn Gold at Jaunbērzi
On 8 September, children from the Rūķi group and their teachers visited the “Jaunbērzi” farm to find, pull up, measure and weigh the biggest carrot. They also saw other vegetables grown in the garden — red beets, pumpkins, cabbages, cucumbers and beans — and solved some riddles. The owners’ pride is their herd of white cows. The children picked apples from their kindergarten orchard, cut them in half so the cows would not choke, and brought them as a treat.
“Jaunbērzi” is an organic farm, ensuring that only the highest-quality produce reaches the table from the field. Every vegetable is grown without chemicals. Warm thanks to the young guides Henrijs and Annija; to father Armands, grandfather Imants and mother Liene, who had prepared many treats — apple cake, meat pies, sausages in pastry, cinnamon buns, savoury sandwiches and delicious juice. We brought popcorn and corn snacks. A few wasps had to be chased away, but that was only a small matter.
The owners of “Jaunbērzi” show that the key to success is doing work with love, honouring and respecting parents, and living in a beautiful, well-kept environment. A heartfelt thank you to the Zeltiņš family for the cooperation, and to driver Reinis. Aija, Benita and Iveta took part in this beautiful search for autumn gold at “Jaunbērzi”.
