In Rhythm with Dad
For the fourth year in a row, the Ērberģe Hunting Club organised a Father’s Day event in Mazzalves parish using funding granted through the Aizkraukle Municipality NGO project competition. Every year, fathers spend active time with their children on the eve of Father’s Day. Last year families went boating, while the year before there was an orienteering competition. This year, fathers and children worked together in a new way for Ērberģe, led by musicians and percussionists Nils Īle and Maija Sējāne Īle.
The event opened with hunting-horn sounds performed by hunting-club member Mārtiņš Letkovskis. Club leader Aivars Miezītis wished participants an enjoyable time together. Fathers and children then united in a percussion performance, first learning it in parts. The team-building event was a success. Maija Sējāne Īle gave each participant an interesting instrument, and together they created another performance — a quiet natural soundscape with bird song, frog calls and the sounds of a river.
After working together in rhythm, participants viewed an improvised display of hunting equipment and enjoyed refreshments prepared by the hunters.
Later, fathers and children competed in darts and air-pistol target shooting. Zigmunds Baltacis was the most accurate father in shooting, and Jānis Ivanovs won the darts competition.
After the sporting activities, everyone enjoyed sausages cooked over the campfire and received medals and prizes earned in the competition.
Thank you to the men of the Ērberģe Hunting Club for organising the event responsibly. The children who came with their fathers on the eve of Father’s Day really were in rhythm with Dad.
