Knowledge Day at School
1 September marked the start of the new school year. This year, 110 pupils will study at Mazzalves Primary School.
Knowledge Day began with a festive event in the school’s Fireplace Hall, bringing together pupils, teachers, staff and parents. Eight pupils will begin Year 1; they were led into the ceremony by Year 9 pupils. The principal warmly introduced each first-year pupil and the children joining the five-year-old preschool group. The event also welcomed Deivids Vanags, the new sports and health teacher. Staff work anniversaries were celebrated: school cleaner Solvita Krišāne for 25 years of service, and Ance Brāzma and Līga Rutka for five years at Mazzalves Primary School.
After a photo session in the schoolyard and class time, the pupil council surprised the children with a magician’s performance, while parents gathered for the general parent meeting. The school administration presented current developments in education and at the school, discussed changes to school regulations, and reported with pride that pupils’ average results in Years 3, 6 and 9 are higher than both municipal and national averages. Parents also heard about high achievements in subject Olympiads and current school projects.
Parents elected their representatives to the school council. Agnese Dubinska was re-elected as chair, with Kristīne Ādama as deputy chair for this school year.
After a short coffee break, parents and teachers took part in a session led by clinical psychologist Kristīne Beinaroviča, “Active Children: Practical Solutions”.
The school year has started energetically — both children and adults are learning. We wish everyone a successful new school year!
