Learning Trip: an Informative, Exciting and Active Day
Year 5 and 6 pupils of Mazzalves Primary School, together with their class teachers, had the opportunity to take an exciting and informative learning trip to Riga. During the trip, the pupils visited two interesting and important places and tested their skills in a sporting activity.
The first stop was the National History Museum of Latvia, where the pupils took part in the educational activity “My Latvia”. They strengthened their knowledge of Latvia, its history and important events. The museum visit made what they learn in class more tangible and understandable, and encouraged them to think about Latvia, its values and their own place in it.
The group then visited a retro car museum owned by the same family for three generations, where another educational activity awaited them. The pupils explored historic vehicles and learned about the development and importance of cars in different times. They saw Latvian-made bicycles and mopeds, world-famous motorcycles and cars, and discovered how people have always searched for more convenient and smarter ways to travel. Seeing the historic vehicles combined knowledge with practical and visual experience.
Both the National History Museum of Latvia and the retro car museum were visited as part of the Latvian School Bag programme, which gives pupils the opportunity to explore Latvia’s cultural, historical and educational values through learning beyond the classroom.
After the educational part of the trip, the pupils enjoyed a more active activity — bowling. It was a great opportunity to relax, move around and test their accuracy. There was plenty of excitement, laughter and mutual support. Pupils could compete, learn to cooperate and celebrate their classmates’ achievements.
The day was filled with new impressions, knowledge and positive emotions. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn in a different way — by exploring, experiencing and working together.
Thank you to the class teachers for planning such a lovely day and to the pupils for their enthusiasm and positive spirit. These shared experiences will certainly remain in their memories for a long time.
