Weaving Masterclasses Have Begun
Since June, as part of the Ērberģietes association initiative project “Days of Strength for Young People”, local women and young people have been preparing looms for weaving every Wednesday in a specially equipped weaving room in the kindergarten building. Reeds, shuttles, bobbins, heddles, warp beams, spreading sticks, winding and threading — everything takes time and enormous patience. Thank you to the hardworking young people who are actively involved in this complex and highly precise work, especially Sintija Gabuža, Annika Eļļuka, Enija Lapiņa, Līva Brāzma and Sofija Letkovska; to workshop leader Mirdza Brūniņa; and to the organisers of the extensive preparation work, Ausma Baltace, Diāna Logina, Silvija Zariņa, Maija Gabuža and Ance Brāzma.
The weaving itself will begin soon. The aim is to weave the Sēlija regional skirt fabric characteristic of the Ērberģe area, so members of the folklore group “Ķerbele” can have their own skirts in the Ērberģe pattern. All interested people are welcome to the weaving masterclasses every Wednesday at 12:00 in the kindergarten building’s weaving workshop.
